DIRECTOR – Candice Schkurat

Candice Schkurat began dancing at age 2 and has been teaching for over 10 years around Victoria & Interstate

Candice has always had a passion for performing. Even when she was just rehearsing in class she was “on Stage.” Song & Dance was her favorite and she would drive her family nuts with her constant singing around the house. From the age of 8 Candice entered dance competitions around Victoria; she was quite successful winning Championships and Aggregates along the way.  Candice also trained in Calisthenics for 2 years.

At the age of 16 Candice gave up the competition world to pursue her other passion – Events & Hospitality. Whilst completing her Advanced Diploma and Bachelor of Business Candice kept up with her dancing by becoming a freelance teacher all over Melbourne & Ballarat, teaching – Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary & Hip hop.

Des Wyatt (Principal for Desalyne dancers SA) saw a contemporary routine Candice had choreographed and was captivated. He invited Candice to teach his students in Adelaide. For the last 3 years Candice has taught contemporary routines for the Junior and Senior dancers. She has gained a long lasting friendship and looks forward to many more future routines with Deslayne dancers.

Candice’s Performing credits include – Channel 7 ‘Good Friday appeal’, Channel 9 ‘New faces’, “West side story”, Cabaret / dinner dance performances for special events, Club openings and the Myer Christmas parade

A self taught guitarist and songwriter Candice has produced her own demo complete with original songs. She has performed these songs at The Hard Rock Café - Melbourne, Surfers Paradise and Queenstown NZ. Along side Paul William Ray Sunday afternoons at the Hard Rock became their signature duet of Nat King Coles - “Unforgettable”

Candice was also invited by the Heidelberg Dance Festival 2008 to adjudicate the competitions and looks forward to future adjudicating roles.

For over 6 years Candice has also been a Children’s Entertainer. Her main Characters include Candi the Clown and Candi the Fairy. She has entertained the kids as many other characters as well at Birthday parties & Family Events all over Melbourne & The Gold Coast. Her talents include - Face painting, Balloon animals, Dancing and children’s games

Collaborating with her brother Leigh-jay Ascension (Currently working on the Disney cruise line – ‘Disney Wonder’ in the Bahamas) Kids Ascension was created – Fitness, Dance & Drama classes for kindergartens & Child Care Centers (Another Branch to the Mackenzi Creations Tree)

Candice has also been in the Weddings & Events industry for over 5 years and has planned & coordinated over 150 weddings

As Candice is involved with so many aspects of the Entertainment & Event world she decided to combined all of her passions and have them under the one umbrella hence Mackenzi Creations was born

PRINCIPAL TEACHER – Miss Yvette Schkurat

Yvette began dancing at age 2, gymnastics at age 6, trained in calisthenics for 5 years and has been teaching for over 20 years

Yvette excelled in Jazz, her teachers astonished by her strength and ability at such a young age and when it comes to tapping she certainly has “Fabulous Feet”

Yvette entered dance competitions when she was 6, Improvising and making up the routines on stage on the spot. Now that’s talent! She was quite successful too wining many championships & aggregates.  

Yvette has a wild imagination which allows her to come up with intricate concepts and routines. She loves to keep things innovative. Yvette has choreographed many routines for competition dance soloists, troupes and dance sport championship couples.

She has taught for many dance schools around Victoria in the styles of Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Hip. Hip, Acrobatics

Yvette’s dance & drama performance credits include – Cabaret and dinner dance shows at special events, Club openings, Myer Christmas parade, Production “Me and My Girl, ” Channel 7 ‘Good Friday Appeal’, Channel 9 ‘Variety Gala’, Channel 10 ‘Secret life of us’ – Movies ‘The Wannabees’ and ‘Evil never dies’ with Thomas Gibson and Kathryn Heigl

Yvette’s Behind the scenes credits included – Co Director on “Fiddler on the roof,” as well as Backstage including pyrotechnics on Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast “Staring Rachel Beck as Belle and Hugh Jackman as Gaston

Yvette’s drive, focus and control makes her a great teacher, she is looking forward to passing on her passion and creativity to the students of Mackenzi Creations Dance entertainment Studio.

PRINCIPAL TEACHER – Miss Jessika Schkurat

Jessika started dancing at the age of 2. She has been teaching for over 5 years in the styles of Tap, Jazz, Ballet & Contemporary

She didn’t take dancing as seriously as her big sisters, she enjoyed the fun, making friends and being social. Always the social butterfly Jess is the centre of the dance floor dancing up a storm at parties and events

As well as her sisters Jessika competed at Dance competitions around Victoria, along the way Jessika became quite successful achieving awards and aggregates.

During the Bendigo Dance Compeititon Jessika entered the Improvisation section. She won with the Adjudicator stating she would make a fantastic teacher is the future.  

Jessika’s performing credits include Productions “Little shop of horrors,” “ Sweet Charity” and “The Wiz,” Channel 7 ‘Good Friday appeal’ – consecutively for 4 years as well as the Victorian State School Spectacular. She has also appeared in many modeling campaigns for companies such as Target & Foleys

Jessika was invited to perform her ‘Neo Classical’ routine by the state after achieving straight A+ for VCE Dance.

Jessika has choreographed many routines for the KDPS cheer squad and also choreographed and performed in “Safety First” tools and trade show – showcasing safety work wear.

Jessika is eager to share her love and fun for dance with the students.

CHIEF DESIGNER & DRESS MAKER – Vonnie

Vonnie has been designing, making dresses & costumes for over 40 years

She can design & create anything from swim wear to Bridal Couture

 Vonnie is also an accomplished beader. Her imagination and creativity combined with her eye for detail will always amaze you.

Vonnie has created many masterpieces – of which one pictured – ‘Birth of the Blues’ Song & Dance costume. Over 80 hours of beading (Vonnie is quite a fast beader too so that’s talent) each flower is individually beaded in a variety of styles.

With her knowledge of fabrics, beads and accessories combined with her experience Vonnie can create pretty much anything with the final piece coming out better than you had hoped for. 

Vonnie is available for Solo or Group designs, creations, sewing, alterations and beading
